Estudiantes y familias de Salem-Keizer
Mañana será el primer día oficial de clases. En el primer día tendremos un horario corto enfocado en el cuidado y la conexión entre los estudiantes y sus profesores y también acerca del uso de las herramientas online. Continuaremos con este programa de aprendizaje durante los días jueves y viernes dependiendo de las necesidades de nuestros estudiantes y de algunos arreglos importantes del sistema Canvas en los cuales se está trabajando diligentemente por el bienestar de nuestros estudiantes.
Algunos cambios para esta semana:
Los estudiantes de kínder a segundo de primaria que no están en el programa EDGE utilizarán SeeSaw. La plataforma SeeSaw ya no se podrá integrar con Clever para el inicio de sesión. Fue importante para nosotros deshabilitar esta opción para tener un ambiente más seguro en la red para nuestros estudiantes más jóvenes. En lugar de usar CLEVER deberán hacer click en iniciar sesión a través de Google. La escuela de su estudiante, o los maestros enviarán un mensaje a través de la aplicación Remind o un correo electrónico con esta información. Dicha información también se encuentra disponible en la página web del distrito y a través las redes sociales.
Los estudiantes registrados en EDGE de los grados tercero a 12 y K2 utilizarán Canvas – Canvas está experimentando dificultades técnicas para integrar los listados de estudiantes dentro de su plataforma tanto en SKPS como en otros distritos. Confiamos que estos problemas se resuelvan entre mañana y el jueves. Sabemos que Canvas está trabajando diligentemente para resolver este problema. Esta situación no se debe a un error humano por parte del personal de Salem Keizer o sus meastros. Una vez que todo este sincronizado será una plataforma que mejorará la experiencia de los estudiantes respecto a la organización de las actividades escolares.
Los estudiantes recibirán un mensaje en su correo electrónico con el link de Zoom para su clase de consejería del día de mañana. Se les pedirá que se unan a su clase a través del link. Durante el jueves y viernes el Aprendizaje Integral a Distancia ocurrirá a través de Zoom o Canvas por los que les pedimos muy encarecidamente hagan que los estudiantes revisen su correo electrónico cada día. Como en cualquier otro inicio de año escolar nuestro enfoque para esta semana es crear una comunidad de aprendizaje con sus estudiantes y aprender las reglas del camino en este tiempo.
Para nuestras familias EDGE:
- Los estudiantes de EDGE están inscritos concurrentemente en su escuela del vecindario y EDGE. Cuando miren ParentVue y StudentVue, hagan click en el horario del estudiante. Esto mostrará que los cursos se darán dentro del programa EDGE.
- La paciencia es clave. El programa EDGE es del tamaño del distrito de Corvallis y solo hemos estado construyéndolo desde hace seis a ocho semanas. Todavía estamos contratando personal. La prioridad en este momento es establecer horarios de clase para los estudiantes y tener maestros listos para darles la bienvenida.
- Estamos trabajando para responder a todas las llamadas y correos y los responderemos directamente a la brevedad posible. Su estudiante no reprobará un curso como resultado de que el sistema no sea totalmente operacional.

Salem-Keizer Students and Families,
Tomorrow we launch our first official day of school. On day one we are focusing on a shortened schedule, care and connection between students and their teacher and learning the online tools. We will extend this learning into Thursday and Friday depending on the needs of our students and some important fixes that our partner Canvas is working diligently to fix on behalf of our students.
A couple changes to what you can expect:
K-2 Students not enrolled in EDGE will be using See Saw. The See Saw Platform can no longer be integrated with Clever for Badge Sign in. It was important for us to disable this in order to have the most secure online environment for our youngest learners. Instead of using CLEVER you will click – login through Google. Either your school or your child’s classroom teacher will be sending you a Remind message or an email with this information.
Grades 3-12 and K-2 student in EDGE are using Canvas – Canvas is experiencing technical difficulties in integrating all student rosters into the Canvas platform in SKPS and in other school districts. We are hopeful it will be resolved by tomorrow or Thursday. I know Canvas is diligently working to resolve the issue. This is not due to human error on the part of SK staff or your child’s teachers. Once everything is synced the student experience will be a better platform for organizing the work.
Students will receive a message in their email with a link to a Zoom meeting for their advisory class tomorrow. They will be asked to join their class through this link. Thursday and Friday comprehensive distance learning will occur either through Zoom or Canvas so please have your students check their email each day. As with the start of any school year our focus this week is creating classroom communities with your students and learning the rules of the road in this time.
For our EDGE Families
- EDGE students are concurrently enrolled at their home school and EDGE. When looking at Parent Vue and Student Vue, click on your student’s schedule. This will show the courses are in the EDGE program.
- Patience is key! EDGE is the size of Corvallis School District and we have only been going for 6-8 weeks. We are still hiring staff. The priority right now is placing students in schedules and having teachers there ready to greet the students.
- We are working through all the calls and emails and will respond to your directly as quickly as we can. Your student will not fail a course as a result of our systems not being fully operational.
Families, do your best. None of us will be perfect when we start. We are here for you and we are excited to see you tomorrow.
